ORPHANS IN AFRICA

ACT OF PARLIAMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA ENTITLED ACT, 1998.

An act of reform consolidate the law relating to children , to provide for the rights of the child maintenance and adoption, regulate child labour and apprenticeship for Children especially orphans and to provide for related matters. Their needs should be considered in any decision making process.

Orphans face these Barriers
  1. – Food and nutrition.
  2. -Shelter
  3. -Education
  4. -Health care
  5. -Exploitation
  6. -Child labour
  7. -Child trafficking
  8. -Water and sanitation

The benefits if Orphans are well both physical and mentally are as follows:

– Orphans will experience healthier lives if they can have access to health promotion, prevention, medical care, and rehabilitation services.

– Orphans participate in family and community decisions

– Changing social norms and cultural practices will accommodate children (orphans) to take up leadership roles in decision making.
